P5

Final Product

This is the first example of my product that I made. Because Dragon is a digital magazine, I decided to make my canvas size the same as the screen of an iPad mini. I decided to use both the monochrome dice set and the neon one, as I thought that this would provide some interesting contrast to the dragon illustration in the background, but looking back at it the pink just sticks out like a sore thumb. If I were to go back and change this, I would include the green dice instead of the pink ones as they will add some colour, but also blend in with the rest of the piece.

This version of the cover, I'm a bit happier with compared to the first one. The blue dragon blends in better with the pink dice set, because of tourmaline gem used as a prop. I do feel that I could have changed the colour of the divider keeping the pink dice separate from the rest of the piece, as well as making the monochrome set a bit lower so it doesn't obstruct the dragon.

Out of each version I made, this is one of my two favourites. I used the shot of the blue dice separated and cropped out three of them and placed them randomly on the final piece, as well as using the orange dice and gemstone to add some interesting colour diversity. The vibrant green of the dragon and the silver header text add some contrast to the piece as a whole, and help differenciate from the darker colours of the piece, like the blue dice.

To mix things up from the other pieces, instead of using a dragon (because of the magazine title Dragon) I used a different character from the game. The main thing I enjoy about this piece is that the colours of the orange dice match the beholder, but they are both clearly their own separate thing. I also like how I was a little more ambitious with the position of the blue dice, and spreading them out a bit further across the piece.

Out of all of the pieces, this is my second favourite of the bunch. Unfortunately, the watermark over the dragon illustration is rather large, despite it being quite faint, and removing it would have ruined the artwork so I left it in. To draw attention away from the watermark, I added the blue and green dice, as the mix of green, gold, and the silver in the blue set is very vibrant but fits together well. I also like how similar the design of the dragon on the dice bag is similar to that of the illustration, giving the whole cover more relation to the title of the magazine.
